Today’s
topic is ‘How to dress a bigger busted woman’. For many women (including
myself) they find it very hard to find clothes that fit properly or feel
comfortable in due to their bust size. I, myself am a 10E and have trouble
finding dresses or tops that fit across my chest area and waist but are too
tight around my bust. So I have dealt with this issue personally and I know
firsthand what cuts to look for and what will suit and will not. Here are my tips to dress a bigger busted
woman:
Tip One: Before clothes shopping, you must
buy a good, supporting bra. When a woman finds the right bra, this will become
her best friend. She will particularly live in it. The perfect fitting bra will
lift and support in all the right areas and is good structure for whatever
outfit you end up wearing. Also wearing the perfect bra will give you
confidence and can give you a slimmer appearance. As you can see in Image (1), this
is one of my perfect bras. It is a Berlei Curves bra http://www.berlei.com.au/
Tip Two: Finding a
comfortable top. For each woman it is different in what they would like to
achieve with the choice of top they buy. For some woman, they want a top that
is comfortable and casual. Some want a top that fits nicely and gives them good
shape. Some people like to show off their best feature, show a little cleavage
and for some woman it is just about finding a top that they look and feel good
in.
The best
styles of tops to look for are V-neck cuts which can create an elongated
neckline that gives the illusion of a smaller bust. Buying a V-neck top with
sleeves is better as anything with an open shoulder can draw the attention to
the chest area. As you can see in Image (2), this is a Portmans V-neck knit top with ruched
sleeves.
Other great
cuts to look for are scoop necks Image (3), square cut or boat cut
tops, scalloped V-neck lining Image (5) and sweetheart neckline
tops Image
(4). Sweetheart necklines shape the top of the bust line but create
that elongated neckline that the V-neck top creates. As seen in Image (4),
this dress has a sweetheart neckline with an empire lining under the bust. This
cut of dress is good for a bigger busted woman with hips as the dress nips in
under the bust and flows straight down. The perfect body shapes for this dress
are pear or apple shapes as this dress creates its shape above the bust and
comes down under the bust. It is important for a bigger busted woman
that the empire line sits directly under the bust and not on the bust.
Tip Three: When it
comes to jackets, it is best to match the right style of jacket with the style
of top or dress you are wearing. A bolero jacket is the best style for a
flowing top or dress, empire lining or A-line dress or skirt. The bolero nicely
shapes the chest area without bringing too much attention to the bust. The
bolero also creates a sweetheart neckline to the outfit.
For a more
fitting dress or skirt, the best jacket is to go with a long lined jacket with
a single breasted button and a long V-neck line. This draws attention away from
the bust and creates that elongated and slimmer look. It is best to avoid large
lapel, box cut and double breasted jackets as these cuts draw attention to the
bust and waist area.

it for my post on dressing for bigger busted women. Keep an eye out over the
